WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Cardinals’ season over with quarterfinals loss to Rockets

Benning scores team-high 16 points for Ball State

Junior forward Ty’Ronda Benning led the seventh-seeded Cardinals with 16 points. Senior guard Audrey McDonald scored 13 points, while senior forward Danielle Gratton added two in their final games for Ball State.

WOMEN’S GOLF: Record round earns Ball State third place after 1st day at UNLV

Cain sets career best by shooting 69 in first round

Tied for third place with the University of Missouri, Ball State set a school record by shooting a combined 289 in the first round. The record was the best 18-hole team score in Ball State history. This record beats the previous one of 294 set three years ago during the 2007-08 Mid-American Conference Preview in Speedway, Ind.

Western Michigan University finished in ninth, the University of Toledo placed 13th, Ohio University placed in 16th, the University of Akron finished in 17th while Bowling Green State University placed last.

The loss for the Cardinals wraps up a crash-and-burn end of the season. Ball State’s hopes of almost assuredly taking the MAC West Division title and a first-round tournament bye vanished with three straight losses to end the regular season. That losing streak ends at four with Sunday’s decision.

President Gora's house was 'home' to South African students

They experienced their first snow, their first roller skating trip and for most, their first visit to the United States. Six musical theater students from Tshwane University of Technology in Pretoria, South Africa, have been visiting Ball State University with professor Josef du Preez, head of the dance and theater department at Tshwane. The group has been visiting Muncie for six weeks after Harold Mortimer, associate professor of musical theater, began planning the trip with du Preez last year. This was the first time a group of students from Tshwane came to Ball State.

Some Village bars are trying 18+ events for increased profit, but some patrons are paying the price

Up until Thursday, the number of Ball State students who were going to the Madhatter on a weekly basis was steadily growing. The Madhatter was raided and cited for allowing minors to loiter near the tavern Thursday after state excise police received an anonymous complaint about underage drinking. The bar has been hosting various 18-and-over nights, where a $5 cover charge was all that stood in the way between students and entering the building.

'Dancing for Dylan' celebrates the life of a son

"Dancing for Dylan" commemorated the life of Dylan Heintzelman, son of BSU dance instructor Susan Koper. The event was held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Pruis Hall.
