From a parade to fireworks from the No. 1 fireworks company in the world, this year's Fourth of July celebration will have something for everybody.

The Champaign County Freedom Committee, a not-for-profit volunteer group that organizes the main events, will start the day off with their Youth Run and 5K Race-Walk.

WYOMING, Mich. (AP) - Kent County Jail records show Michigan running back Kevin Grady will be arraigned next week on a misdemeanor charge of operating while intoxicated.

Police in the Grand Rapids suburb of Wyoming arrested the 22-year-old athlete early Wednesday while he was driving.

UK opens satellite office in Louisville

UK opened its first office in Louisville last month with the goal to aid in recruitment of students from the state's largest metropolitan area.

UK on Main, located at 714 W. Main St. in downtown Louisville, provides space for university officials in development, admissions, athletics and sports marketing to recruit new students to the university, according to a May 14 news release.

Fox-Atkins Development finalized the purchase of Research Park's former Motorola building from Motorola Inc. June 23. The 74,000-square-foot structure is the only building in the park not built by Fox-Atkins or the University of Illinois.

The former Motorola building, located between Oak Street and First Street across from the University's Assembly Hall, was put on the market during the fall of 2007 and about 215 workers lost their jobs.

Effective July 1, 2008 Dean Cheryl Achterberg will become the new dean for the College of Education and Human Ecology at Ohio State. She will also serve as a professor in the department of human nutrition.

Achterberg earned a bachelor's degree in biological sciences at California Polytechnic State University, a master's in human development at the University of Maine, and a doctorate in nutrition at Cornell University.

Nearly three months before the deadline, the Michigan Legislature determined a large portion of the state budget for the next fiscal year Friday.

Lawmakers discussed and voted on legislation until 2:00 a.m. Saturday, but the bill providing a 1-percent across-the-board increase for the state's public universities passed both houses relatively quickly in the middle of the day.
