MEN'S BASKETBALL: Hoyas escape Worthen Arena with 57-48 victory

Playing in front of 4,381 fans at Worthen Arena, the Cardinals were within six points twice down the stretch before losing 57-48.
"I was really proud of our kid's effort out there tonight against a terrific Georgetown team," Ball State coach Billy Taylor said. "[Georgetown] has great talent, great size and [coach John Thompson III] does a great job with his kids. But I couldn't be more proud of our effort we put out there tonight and kids fighting and executing the game plan."
Cardinals' senior guard Peyton Stovall scored the 1,000th point of his collegiate career early in the first half, and led Ball State with 16 points. Freshman Melvin Goins also scored in double figures with 11. Fellow freshman Malik Perry led Ball State with eight rebounds and scored eight points.
Seven-foot-two-inch senior Roy Hibbert led Georgetown with 16 points. Jessie Sapp and DaJuan Summers also scored in double figures with 11.
